I’ve wanted a fisheye lens for over a year now. Photographing children especially, I love the whimsical, fun aspect it brings almost like you are getting a peek into their world. Well, impulsively I bought one and I have to say, it’s quite a bit more challenging than I thought. There is a fine line between a caricature and a portrait with this lens. It definitely is going to be a great challenge learning the strengths and weakness of this lens, how to frame and compose shots to get the right amount of distortion on the surroundings and not on my subjects, and how to get creative and fun with it. With photography though, I’m always striving to learn and grow so this is just another fun way to do that. Below are some my favorites from the past few days. What do you think? Is this something you would like added to your portrait sessions?
