When planning our newborn session, I wanted something very lifestyle, something that would show our family story. I wanted it to show how excited the kids were to meet their new brother, how much joy and love my husband and I felt, and something in our home that would feel more intimate and personal and show our lives as they are right now. I’ll admit it, I’ve shied away from newborn sessions. It’s never felt right to me. While posed studio sessions are beautiful, they are also stressful. Waiting for baby to get in that perfect sleep so you can pose them always felt wrong to me. And once they do, you just upset them moving them and rearranging them. Sessions can drag on for hours. It’s a lot of stress on baby and a newly postpartum Mom, and I’ve always wondered why. For me, lifestyle newborn sessions is what it’s about. The connection, the family, the joy of that new little baby and a lifestyle session is the perfect way to document that.
So with that said, let me introduce our sweet little Levi. Born on June 14th (our 7th wedding anniversary, no less) at 2:59 in the afternoon. Apparently the third time really is the charm because we all are so in love. I feel like it took me this many kids to finally slow down and enjoy it. All the little sounds, the little expressions, the snuggling. No more worries about if I’m doing things right, schedules, etc. It all just feels a lot more easy and natural. And so far he has been such a sweet, easy baby.
Here he is, on his birthday, only a few hours old.
Him and his Dada. I couldn’t have asked for a better father for our kids. I mean, how sweet is this? I love the way he loves our kids.
And lots of shots with the siblings. It has been so amazing to see their excitement over their new brother. To see my daughter become a big sister and the way they love on him just melts my heart.
And our first family picture as a family of five.
