This was my second time photographing the Laskey Family. I also had the pleasure of documenting their maternity session just a few months earlier, which you can see here. For newborn sessions I always travel to my client’s home as opposed to a more controlled setting like a studio, as it creates such a personal and intimate feeling to their pictures.
Baby Andrew was just 13 days old at the time of this session. He had been wanted and prayed for for so long that all throughout Stephanie’s pregnancy, they held close to the phrase, “For this child we have prayed, for you are fearfully and wonderfully made”. It is a mixture of two different bible verses, 1 Samuel 1:27 and Psalm 139:14, both beautiful and highlighting the importance of God’s plan for our lives. So I knew coming into this session I wanted to do something special to really bring that phrase to life for them and document it in a really beautiful, unique way, and it ended up being my absolute favorite part of their session. All of the family laying hands on Andrew and praying over his life, his future, his salvation. The pictures really cannot do it justice and being invited in to witness such a special moment is an incredible honor for me.
We spent the rest of the session cuddling and snuggling little Andrew. This is what I love the most about lifestyle newborn sessions. There is no pressure, no poses to force, and every session is so different as homes and family dynamics are so different. Scroll down to see more from this sweet session.
